Only in Australia — Hundreds of voters have turned up to vote in the Australian federal election without their pants.

As the polls closed on what is set to be one of the closest elections in decades the focus should be on who is going to be the next Australian Prime Minister. Instead, a cheeky campaign from swimwear company, Budgy Smuggler has stolen the show and captured the world’s attention.

Despite cold and rainy conditions across much of the country, hundreds of Aussies have taken up Budgy Smuggler’s offer of a free pair of swimmers for posting a snap of themselves voting in a pair of the company’s trunks.

In what could prove to be a marketing coup for the company, Budgy Smuggler posted its challenge on social media earlier this week, encouraging people to “exercise your constitutional right to vote without pants on.”
